As filmagens já começaram há algum tempo - estão a decorrer entre Vancouver e Nova Orleans. O realizador é Matt Reeves. Sabe-se que a história do filme baseia-se em acontecimentos que ocorrem 15 anos depois do Planet of the Apes. Caesar (novamente interpretado por Andy Serkis vai tentar afirmar o seu domínio sobre os restantes primatas enquanto que uma pequena comunidade humana tenta sobreviver em San Francisco.
“A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth¹s dominant species.”
No elenco estão confirmados, Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, Gary Oldman, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Kirk Acevedo, Judy GreeToby Kebbell e Enrique Murciano. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes tem prevista como data de estreia - 23 de maio de 2014.
